Normal.dot Question

Hi all,

I just installed Office XP onto my laptop and I wanted to tweak the menu
bars, etc. to match my desktop version. I thought all those setting are
included in the normal.dot file and all I had to do was to copy my
normal.dot from my desktop onto the laptop, putting it in the designated
file location specified in the Option menu item.

But doing that doesn't change my laptop's Word view at all. I must be
missing something here. Is there a different way my settings in Word are
saved? Do I have other options like the File Transfer program?

Please help!

are you using windows xp? where exactly did you copy it to?
