If you have multiple users on your computer, you may have more than
one version of normal.dot (one version for each user).
With Word 2003, you will probably find it at
C:\Documents and Settings\ [User Name] \Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates
There are two ways of finding the precise location on your computer:
a) With Windows XP, click on Start, followed by Search. Type
normal.dot in the search box and search against all files. When the
search has finished, change the views option of the Search Results
window to "Details".
or
b) Open Word. Click on Tools, followed by Options. Click on the
"File Locations" tab - and select "User Templates". Click on
"Modify". This will produce a window headed "Templates". Then click
repeatedly on the "up one level" arrow - which will disclose the full
path.
