I am suddenly getting an error when I exit Word. It says
that normal.doc already exists and asks Do you wish to
replace the existing file. I always say yes but it does it
every time I exit Word.

Where is the options to have it automatically write over
the old one?

I tried that and the check box was already unchecked. I
put a check in and quit and got the same error. Opened
Word again, unchecked box, quit and received error again.

The Options setting (Cause 1) is not the issue here. You *want* that
checked. The problem is the add-in (or virus) that is modifying Normal.dot
every time you start/quit Word (Cause 2 or 3). Incidentally, the Word 2002
version of this article indicts the Stamps.com add-in rather than the Works
Suite Add-in, but the problem can also be caused by a variety of other
poorly written add-ins. The bottom line is that you need to find out what
add-ins are being loaded with Word. Those that are in Word's Startup folder
will be listed in Tools | Templates and Add-ins, but there are also COM
add-ins that are not listed there; see
