Normal.dotm Citation function errors

Hello, I am not able to use an of the Reference tools in my Word 2007. Each
time, I get the error message "Invalid source specified" in the document and
the preview pane in Manage Sources. If I start Word in the default status
with no Add-ins, the Reference tools work fine, until I close it and open it
again. I have to restart Word in the default status and then open my
document, the Reference tools work, but nothing else like header or footer
templates page numbers and the styles.
I have tried to rename the normal.dotm, and create a new one, but the same
problem exists. I have uninstalled Office 2007 Enterprise and reinstalled it
with no change. I have tried to change the document which loads when Word
opens, and this did not work either.
I have went to the Manage Add-ins drop down box, to Templates and reload a
new normal file, but it reverts to the messed up dotm file. Help please,
because it is difficult to write my research papers without it.

It sounds like you must have an incompatible third party add-in installed.
