Hi Ramesh,
For Office 2007 .---X files cannot contain active content that the apps will work on, such as macros, where .---M files can. For
Word that would be .docX and .dotX and .docM and .dotM
Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) files are plain text .XML files (.RibbonX file type in Office 2007 Beta 2, .QAT in Office 2007 Beta 2
with the Technical Refresh update applied. For Word the QAT file loaded by default at startup is Word.QAT
When you start Word 2007 the QAT is the 'small' island at the top of the screen with the undo/redo arrows on it. You can right
click the toolbar or an icon on the ribbon to add it to the QAT. You can also manually edit the QAT files.
==========
Thanks Cindy. I should have been clearer that I rather than the software was
the source of the "corruption".
The persistence of the problem lay in the fact that I was saving the
template as normal.dotx rather than .dotM. Please confirm that when I create
a new document, word uses .dotm template.
Sorry I am not familiar with .QAT files. Please refer me to some info on it.
thanks
