Normal template

Everytime I open MS Word it comes up with Normal + Red and all my typing is
in red. How do I change this permanently back to the regular Normal template?

It is the definition of the Normal style that has been changed. Go to the
Format Font dialog and change the color back to Automatic and click on the
Default button.
