normal view scroll lock

I'm working on a Powerbook G4, running 10.4.10 - it has a trackpad on
which you can use two fingers to scroll.
The trouble is, when I scroll down (in normal view), it has a tendency
to scroll sideways too - onto blank white screen. Is there any way to
prevent this? For example, a horizontal scroll lock?

On same subject - does normal view have to have the text display at
the far left of the screen? I'd prefer it to be closer to the middle
if possible.

Thanks.

What happens when you remove the horizontal scroll bar in preferences?

Up the zoom or narrow the window?

I had the same thought and tried that - it still scrolls off page even
without the horizontal scroll bar.

Any other thoughts/ideas for fixes?

Thanks again.

Strange: I have a recent Macbook and that just started doing this also.

I wonder if Software Update has changed the track pad driver?

(As to your question: I have no idea! :))

Heh! I'm the wrong person. I shoulda kept most mousy quiet. ;-)
I normally never scroll or use the mouse. I'm almost always always in
Page View too. So I never see what you see.

Powerbook with 2 finger scrolling? Have you hacked it? Is it any good?
Which hack? Which model PB? Will it work on a 12" PB?
Does it work in Leopard?
I tried with my wife's MacBook which does have 2 finger scrolling, and
it only scrolls vertically in her older version of Word
Any other thoughts/ideas for fixes?
So I'm outta ideas, except for the other suggestion of zooming the
window with Page width. Or does it scroll right off the "paper"?
