I am having the same problem (Outlook 2002, WinXP, Norton
Internet Security 2004). I have 2 Outlook profiles ---
one that connects to a pop3 internet account and one that
connects to an MS Exchange server. For the MS Exchange
account, I use offline folders and sync. When I
installed NIS 2004, I get the identical error message
when I switch profiles. The first time after switching,
Outlook crashes. The second time, it opens normally.
I was on the phone with Symantec for 4 hours yesterday
trying to fix the issue; and they could not. After
uninstalling NIS and reinstalling it, we only confirmed
that the AntiSpam com addin for NIS was causing the
problem. At the end of the 4 hours, Symantec tech
support basically scratched their heads and told me to
call Microsoft.
Furthermore, in my Exchange offline folders, it does not
catch any spam --- even when I give NIS a specific rule
to do so.
Because the crash only happens when I switch profiles, I
suspect that it is a problem with loading order of
executables or dll's.
