Norton prevents OneNote from writing to shared notebooks

I've setup some shared notebooks on a HP2020 Media Vault home server. On
three computers running OneNote 2007 and Vista I've mapped an O: drive to the
shared notebooks. One computer is running Norton Internet Security 2007.
That computer can read the shared notebooks, but cannot write to them ( I get
the "This section contains changes that cannot be synced because..." error).
In Norton, when I disable Autoprotect in Basic Security..OneNote sync works
fine. The other two computers synch without a problem, they are running
different security software.

I've checked the HP Media Vault file permissions, the VISTA file permissions
on the shared drive, and deselected the ""Turn on scanning for Microsoft
Office documents" in Norton. OneNote is on the Norton firewall list as an
allowed program. Is there another program that handles the file synching
that I should add to the allowed list?

To be perfectly blunt I'm not much of a Norton Internet Security fan - I
think it tends to cause more problems than it solves. Do you really need
it? Vista's built-in firewall, along with whatever firewall/router you're
already running, should be more that sufficient for your firewall needs I
think.

Can you just run Norton's antivirus without running it's firewall service?
