not a valid win32 application

Sepehr

When I try to open a Word document directly by double clicking it (instead of
opening Microsoft Word and openning the file through that program), I receive
the message, "filename.doc is not a valid Win32 application." If you konw how
to fix this problem, please let me know.

Hi Sepehr,

Do word documents show proper word icon or some other icon? It could be
possible that the association for the word documents i.e. the program type is
changed in the registry, you can check that.

Hope that it was helpful.

If the error occurs only when you open the file outside the
application (other than using File/Open) then it sounds like the file
association needs to be recreated.

To recreate the file associations for Word go to Start/Run and run the
following:

winword /r

Note the space before the forward slash.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
