Not able to rebuild database

O

oilsultan

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I recieved an error message that I must rebuild my database.

- Entourage cannot access your data. To attempt to fix the problem, rebuild your database.

I followed all of the instructions. When I get to the point of Step 2 in scanning the data it stalls and goes no further and says an I/O error occured.

Any thoughts on how to recover. I have found no further info online.

Thanks
Bruce

I/O error almost always means disk damage.
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/error/text.html#I_OError

Before you start any troubleshooting make a backup of your Entourage
identity.
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/path/index.html#ent_db
Entourage 2004: ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities/your
identity <- copy this folder

Try to run disk repair or another disk repair program.
Are you able to log into Entourage? If so you can try to move to a new
identity but still troubleshoot your disk!
Here are some articles that tell you how to create a new identity and how to
export - import.
