I have an Outlook 2003 user at our company who is unable to view screen shots
within the body of an email. The screen shots are replaced with image
placeholders, the little red x.
The solution below solves the problem temporarily, but then the problem
reoccurs about 2 or 3 weeks later. Is there another solution for this
problem, or does it just keep reoccuring because the Outlook temp folder gets
too large?
1-Locate the Outlook Temporary Items folder by opening the Registry and
locating
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security\OutlookSecureTempFolder
Navigate to the value of this Key. It should be something like:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3D\ where OLK3D is
some randomly generated string that always starts with OLK
2-Quit Outlook
3-Delete the contents of the folder
4-Launch Outlook
within the body of an email. The screen shots are replaced with image
placeholders, the little red x.
