Not all Project Summary Tasks are visible in a Master file?

Hi all,

I have master file containing a few other inserted projects.
For each project I have entered a specific date "Date6" at the Project
Summary level.
This date is visible in each Project when opened up individially.
However, from the Master file containing these projects the "Date6" is not
visible any longer. Is there a setting that I need to change or?

Hello Atilla,
I understand what you are expecting from these Summary tasks in the master
project. But I think that the Project's logical is quite different. These
Summary tasks in the master project own to the master project (insert the
Project column to check it) so they can't display any data specific to the
sub projects.

Hi Gerard,

Thanks. However, fields such as "Work", "Actual Work", "Start" and Finish"
does show up correctly. I was wondering if there is a setting somewhere
where I can change that or override that behaviour?

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

I've just created a master project with 3 projects. I then inserted a Date6
column in one of them and in the master. I put a date against a task and in
the project summary task and they appeared qiute happliy in the master.
What did you do differently?

Hi Mike,

Thank you. Great news. I made it work after some more changes.
It does not work only by setting the date on the Project Summary it seems.
The trick was, as you suggested was to add also a date to a task.
Even then I could not make it visible at first in the master. So I went into
the Master:
Tools->Customize->Fields. I selected "Date" from the "Type" field,
I selected Date6. For the "Calculations for task and group summary rows"
I selected Rollup Maximum.

And then it worked...
