NOT check an email account

Chris Barnes

I have a 'dummy, generic' email account that I sent announcements from.
By that I mean that have 2 email accounts defined:
1) my real account where I receive/read email
2) the dummy account ([email protected]) that does not point
to a real account on the server.

How do I tell Outlook to NOT check for new messages for the dummy
account?

I forgot to mention - OL 2002.

I don't think I was specific enough in my original message.
This person has 2 email accounts.

1) is real (imap) and needs to have her email check the server
2) is the dummy account (pop3) that we don't want to check a server

If I'm not mistaken, the instructions above will affect all accounts
universally.

Fwiw, Outlook Express *does* have the ability to uncheck a box for
"include this account when receiving mail or syncronizing". I'm hoping
MS's premire product would have that same feature.

Edit a send and receive group to remove the dummy account from the send and
receive group. Or create a new group with only the good account in it.

I don't have the foggiest idea what you're talking about.

What is a "send & receive group"?

From my previous message:
tools, options, mail settings, send and receive settings.

If you look on that menu, you'll see "Define Send/Receive group". Select it.
Then select either New or Edit from the dialog to create a new group or edit
the existing one.

Ah, that worked. Thank you.
