"Not enough Disk Space or Memory" Message

Windows XP Pro, Access 2002 512 Ram and ~100 gig open disk space.

Top of the evening,

Beginning to learn use access and having a bit if a problem. I have
imported a rather large table ~220000 rows (or it is large for me). When
importing one column of dates was imported as text and I opened the table in
design view and attempted to change the "data type" from text to date and
get "Not enough Disk Space or Memory" am I overlooking something? and if
the message is true how much space / memory is required?
