"not enough memory or disk space to display or print the picture"

This warning message pops up each time I open a word doc with a normal amount of graphics. I had been working on this document without any trouble in Word 04, but since I've installed 08, I am not able to see any visuals. I'm working on a new MacBook with barely anything on the disk, so the memory-related implications here have got to be erroneous. How can I solve this problem? Might it be a compatibility issue?
Thanks so much.

Does this happen with many files? I have seen the problem in Word 2004
but it usually revolves around a corrupt document...do you have access
to any other Macs with Word to try the file(s) on?

Dana is right: The document contains one or more pictures that Word 2008
can't read/convert.

Ignore the error and look in the document to see what might be wrong: you
will find a missing image.

Hope this helps
