Not enough memory

crabuback

Every time I open a Word file using Word 2004 with Service Pack 1
installed, I receive the message "There is not enough memory or disk
space to run the convertor Word 6.0/95 import." I get this message
even when the file is very small and has been created in Word 2004.
There is always at least 500 Meg of free memory and 1.5 Geg of hard
drive space

Hi,

Try deleting word preferences file. This file is stored under <Hard
disk>/Users/Home folder(folder with a Home
icon)/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.

Hope this resolves your issue.

That was silly: You will need that converter every so often! I suggest you
replace it from your Office CD :)

The cure Prasanna gave you was a much better one: the problem you have is
not a fault with the converter, it's a fault with the preference file, which
is calling the converter when you are not opening a Word 6-format document.

The converter cannot understand the document code and so runs out of memory
and issues the error message. What it's really saying is "I cannot load the
converter for this document" because the preference file is pointing it at
the wrong one!

Cheers

I ended up deleting the Word 6.0/98 converter. All seems well now.
