Not enought memory message when Copy Pasting

I have a G5 2.0DP with 1.5 Gig RAM running 10.3.8. I have Excel 11.1.1,
part of Office 2004.

I have a Workbook of about 300 k with many small entries. If I select a
cell and copy it, it will do it no problem the first time, and I can
then past it in word. If I come back it will give me a Not enought
memory error message if I try to copy anything else. If I say Ok, the
message appears again right after. Excel does not crash. Most of the
time, it will even actually copy what I wanted, sometimes no.

I really need help. This is a step I do 100 times a day minimum.

Thank you in advance for any advie you might be able to give me.
