not merging Address Book with Mac Contacts

Entourage does not merge new material with Mac Contacts. I set it up to import the original contacts list from Contacts, then changed the setting to merge going forward. I enter new material in Entourage Address Book but it fails to reach Contacts. I have only one email account in Entourage (company Exchange Server) and I have a mobile me account that synchs my mac apps with my other computer and iPhone.
