Not printing page numbers or footers

I am unable to print footers and page numbers even though they appear on the print preview. The size of the Word document is not a factor as it won't print them on even a single page test document, let alone a 120 page report.
I have tried removing and re-adding the printer and have moved the Normal Template to the desktop so that Word will automatically create a new Normal Template.
Nothing changes - I am sure it is a simple fix, but I can't see it.

I appreciate your frustration, but you may be beating the wrong horse :)

Word doesn't do any printing at all, it calls the OS print services & hands
the data off so it can be processed by the printer. If the content is
showing in the doc & is showing in Print Preview it should be getting to the
paper as well. If this is happening with more than just one document &
replacing Normal.dotm had no effect the odds are it hasn't anything to do
with Word. There's a communication breakdown somewhere along the way.

Re-installing the printer driver was a step in the right direction, but a
waste of time if it isn't the most *current* driver. Have you checked the
printer mfr's web site for any update? Also, make sure Office & OS X are
fully up to date & repair disk permissions after any updating.

Yeah, my guess would be the size of the bottom margin is too small.

Have a look in Format>Document...

While you're in there, check the paper size. If you have A4 selected and
Letter size in the printer, this is exactly what happens.

The bottom margin must be the distance you want the text from the bottom of
the paper. Then position the "footer" <margin> - <minimum printing
distance> / 2 to position the footer half way up the margin.

If you do not know what your printer's minimum printing distance is, assume
1 cm. Make the margin 2.5 cm and place the footer at 1.25 cm.

Cheers

Not sure why it worked, but I copied the 120+ page file to my PC, entered the page numbering format into the footer and then test printed a selection of pages, which printed the page numbers correctly.

I then copied the file back to my Mac, and again test printed a selection of pages - which also printed the page numbers correctly.

Thank you for your suggestions.

How do I stop the daily receipt of about 50 emails which I have been receiving since my original post? All very interesting and I have saved many of them for future reference, but I no longer need to receive them.

Thank you
