Not processing literate, have a table question, Please Help?

I'm creating a table in which to enter lesson plans.
I want the size of the columns (in particular, the length)to always
remain the same. Is there a way to create the table and permanently set
the length of the columns? So that it won't adjust as I type?
I would rather edit my text to fit the length, than to have different
sized tables on each page of my printed lesson plans.

Table Properties: on the Row tab, you can set an Exact height. To keep the
column widths uniform, be sure to turn off auto resizing (Table tab:
Options: Automatically resize to fit text")
