Not read; Your message was delted without being read

I am running Exchange 2003 SP2 with Outlook 2003 SP2. Some users who have
read receipts on are getting the following:

Subject: Not read: FW: Emailing: CRM BY 2008 Exhibit 51-53 Presidents
Budget.xls

Your message

To: XXX
Cc: XXXXX
Subject: FW: Emailing: CRM BY 2008 Exhibit 51-53 Presidents Budget.xls
Sent: 3/22/2007 9:47 AM

was deleted without being read on 3/23/2007 8:11 PM.

The user that it is reporting as deleting the message has not done so but
for some reason the message originator is being sent this message. The person
the message it was sent to does not have any delegates to her mailbox. we do
have preview pain on. Thoughts?

Just to verify, the user who is being reported as deleting the message
without reading it, what is the state of the message in their mailbox? Is
it still in the Inbox, is it moved to a PST, is it read or unread? Is it in
the Deleted Items folder?
