Not receiving emails

All of a sudden my Outlook Express email account has developed a mind of its
own! When I signed on it showed that it was downloading several messages,
but when it opened there were no emails after 2/2/08! I spent an hour and a
half on the phone with my server rep (Cox Cable) and they couldn't help.
They said it had something to do with my firewall or virus scanner, but
couldn't help me with that. I have Zone Alarm and AVG. I uninstalled AVG
and disabled Zone Alarm, then rebooted. No luck. I haven't installed
anything new recently and don't understand why it would happen overnight!
Can anyone help me pretty please?
