not recieving email from hotmail.co.uk acct in outlook error 4005

Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Outbox Downloading all items.' reported error
(0x80004005) : 'An unknown error has occurred. Please save any existing work
and restart the program.'

setup as per instruction, the acct is not a freebie - just pretty new -
although the hotail acct works from the msn site. - help !!!!
