Ah. In older versions the setting was for external mail only, which can
be
blocked at the server. The setting should prevent both internal and
external receipts in Outlook 2003 and 2007.

Diane thanks for the reply.
Just to be clear, I do not need to differentiate between internal and
external. Also, this is not a question of me wanting to request a
receipt.
I do not want anyone to know when I read my email. The setting to never
send
a receipt is for internet mail only. I cannot seem to stop those
receipts
for
internal mail. My exchange admin also has no idea how to do this.

In Outlook 2007, the Tracking options applies to both internal and
external
email. No, you can't turn it off internally and leave them on
externally -
Exchange server can be configured to allow only internally, not
externally.
That isn't what you want though.
You could use rules to enable them for external mail. Create an after
sending rule, sent to @, notify me when read.
You use the @ because internal addresses don't have an @ in them...
add
the
@ to the rule following the steps at
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/rules.htm.

I have read every post and answer that I could find on the subject
but
it
all
seems to refer to internet mail and Outlook 200-2003, however, in
Outlook
2007 is there a way, on the client side, to turn OFF sending read
receipts
when both sender and recipient are in the same domain/exchange
server?
Is this even configurable on the exchange server side?
Clearly Tools/Options/E-mail options/Tracking options only prevents
read
receipt for internet mail.
I am beginning to question my technical acumen.
Thanks
