Not to show picture inline

C

Charles Leung

I received a message which included a few attachments of PDF and JPG files.
Content of the attachments showed following message body. Is it possible
not to show the content? "Show attached pictures and movies in messages" is
not checked under View in Preferences.

I am running Entourage 11.2.1 on OS X 10.4.3.

Thanks,

Charles

If the image is inserted into a plain text message as an inline attachment
or is in the HTML code for an HTML message, it will display. There's no way
to control that behavior.

It sure makes you wonder about that View preference, though, doesn't it? The
pref is explicit : "Show attached pictures and movies in messages". Couldn't
be clearer than that. When you uncheck it, it makes no difference. That's a
BUG.

It looks to me as if it must have worked in some earlier versions of
Entourage. (Anyone have X or 2001? what happens there? Just plain text or
HTML too? Please give exact version.) But it doesn't now. If there's any
reason why the toggle can't/shouldn't be implemented, then they need to
remove the pref. But it would be a lot better to have it working.

PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using -
**2004**, X or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions
otherwise.

If the image is inserted into a plain text message as an inline attachment
or is in the HTML code for an HTML message, it will display.

Actually, in the first case (attachment inserted into the middle of a
message), the preference should control whether it shows up or not.
