note reference marks

I am using office X with Jaguar- and have transferred a Word document
between computers using the same version of word. My endnotes and
specifically my note reference marks (which initially appeared fine)
now appear in the correct place and sequence except they are depicted
as a small square-rather than a number. In addition- my header also
is flanked by small squares. Is there a fix to this?
Thank You

Hi jpm,

It sounds like the computer to which you moved the file does not have the
font that was used when the document was created, or perhaps it has more
than one version of it. Check to see if the same version of the font exists
on the problem computer. If you have multiple fonts with the same name in
different locations on the hard drive then MacOS will use the first copy it
comes across (see Apple's help for the searching order - which includes OS 9
if you have it installed), so be sure that you check for duplicate font
names.
