Notebook - How to snap text to lines?

It would seem common sense to me that the text and lines in the notebook layout would align. This is not the case - one has to change one or more of the font size, line rules, or paragraph spacing.

Is there no way to "snap" text to the lines or vice versa?

Hi Christine -

I'm afraid I can't reproduce the problem here. Using Notebook View at its
defaults everything aligns perfectly. It only stands to reason, however,
that if you do change either font size or Rule Lines Distance the other
would have to be adjusted accordingly. I've even tried to "force" the
behavior by formatting in Print Layout & then converting to NBL, but the
text still aligns with the ruling no matter what.

What more can you provide about how the document was created, what has been
done, etc.

As I had the same issue, I could provide you with information on how to reproduce this problem:
Just change the format of "Standard" paragraphs. If you choose e. g. Verdana 9 points and line spacing exactly 13 points you will get strange results in Notebook View.

Did you read the rest of my reply? That's exactly my point.

Notebook View is a utility intended for - well, let me see - taking notes.
Formatting is set for that purpose. Its default setup presents no problem
*if you don't tamper with it* - if you do you have to tamper with *all* of
it proportionately. The Rules do not automatically adjust themselves based
on your font specs, nor should one expect them to. If you want refined
formatting in a final draft, convert to a regular doc & format in Draft or
Print Layout view.

No, the problem happens just the same for some of us. It may be the ones of us who had Office 2004 first. I have the problem and I have no changed the settings to be anything other than the default settings. So, Bob Jones' sarcasm is not well received.

Well, I also had 2004 first... & still do, on 2 separate systems running 2
separate versions of OS X - Tiger & Leopard.
I have the problem and I have no changed the
settings to be anything other than the default settings.

But the message to which I replied explicitly stated that the poster *had*
done so & specified exactly what had been changed:

"I could provide you with information on how to reproduce this problem:

We won't even get into the fact that the individual had hijacked the thread
of another poster, interjecting irrelevant, misleading disinformation... And
no, I don't take kindly to those whose only apparent intent is to discredit
& rebuke those who are volunteering their time & expertise while at the same
time having nothing positive to offer.
So, Bob Jones'
sarcasm is not well received.

I'm not certain to what definition of 'sarcasm' you subscribe but there
certainly was none in that reply. I merely asked if the poster had fully
read the message to which he/she was responding since the thrust of his/her
contradiction was precisely what I had recommended *not* be done. Had I
intended sarcasm I most certainly would have left no room for doubt as it is
one of few crafts at which I am highly skilled:)
