Notebook tabs

Dear group members:

I have been working with the new Notebook layout and so far have enjoyed it
very much.

The only problem I am experiencing is the difficulty in moving through the
different tabs on the side. Some of the notebooks I've created have now
dozens of tabs and it is very difficult and time consuming to navigate
through the tabs by clicking with the mouse on the little arrowheads on the
top and bottom of the tabs to move from one to another who is distant.

Is there a faster way to do this ? Is there some kind of keyboard
combination of keys that allow you to move up and down these tabs ?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Joseph,

I'm not sure if there is a keyboard shortcut. One thing you could do however
is click on the "Show Section Tab Titles" text in the status bar at the
bottom of the screen. The green dot in front of it should disappear, and
your tabs should change into smaller, horizontally laid out, numbered tabs.
These new tabs take up less screen space; however, since they only show you
numbers, you are required to know exactly what's on what page to
successfully and quickly navigate by clicking on them. It's a shame
Microsoft didn't give us the option to have the section names show up
horizontally. I remember suggesting this when the suggestion link on the
Mactopia website was still working.

Anyway, give it a try!

If you've set your browse object to Sections (CTRL-click on the circle
between the double arrows at the lower right-hand corner of the window),
you can use the default CMD-PgUp and CMD-PgDown.

I've tried it following your instructions but for some reason it doesn't
work. As I press the key combination you've suggested I keep moving along
one of the tabbed sections but not from one section to the next.

Just curious - What purpose does the Ctrl key serve? I find nothing seems to
work differently if I simply click the Browse Objects button to pop open the
palette.

Absolutely no difference. I've gotten used to using right-clicks with my
mouse to produce pop-up menus, and I generalized it to the palette.

Thanks for the correction!
