Notebook view-- demote/promote

Is there a way to quickly promote text while taking notes? If I press "return", it just puts another note on the same demoted level as the last one. I don't want to have to go to the formatting palette every time to start a new subject heading while taking notes in class.

"Backspace".

But you must have "Tabs and backspace set left indent" enabled in
preferences.

Cheers

FWIW, I prefer Shift+Tab -- it doesn't matter whether the AutoCorrect
setting is enabled & Backspace typically has to be pressed more than once.

Yeah, I think that's right. I only gave "Backspace" because it's the
"official" command.

Personally, I do not use the mechanism at all, I switch to Outline View and
use Promote and Demote...

Cheers
