(Notebook View) Formatting Hell

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I've been using notebook view to take notes in class, and recently I've been VERY annoyed by some apparent glitches in the formatting. If I even make one word bold or underlined, for the rest of the document I will have to DE-bold, and DE-underline each successive line. Even when I de-bold or de-underline the line before pressing return.

Is there any way to make this stop? It is, quite frankly, VERY unnerving, and I don't have the time to continually apple b and apple u the lines because Word decides to be psycho. Help?

It sounds like your Normal paragraph style (or whatever style you're using)
has somehow been set to Automatically Update.

Go into the Modify Styles dialog & clear the check for that property.
