Notebooks on networked drive requesting password and showing location

Strange problem in onenote 2007:

Onenote notebooks and .one files are on a network location and I have
a mapped drive pointing to that location.
If I open the notebook from file open in onenote, it doesn't display
the notebook and comes up saying that this notebook requires a
password with no place to put a password. If I look at the location of
the notebook it shows http://servername/location. If I change the
location and point to the folder that contains the notebook it opens
fine and syncs with no problems.

Any idea why this is happening?

Oh and in IIS on the server, that site location exists but:
1- requires ssl (if i turn it off still says you don't have
permission)
2- permissions for the website and the folder give me full control.

What does it show the network location in Windows Explorer to be? Also
something with http:// or something with \\ at the beginning?

If you can open the notebook with the second method, doesn't that solve your
problem? Or does the issue reoccur when you open Notebook again? I am
assuming that you just leave the notebook open and don't close it manually.

This is due to a bug in OneNote 2007 SP1. It occurs when you are hosting
a notebook on a file share that also happens to have a web server
running on the same server. A fix is in the works, and should be coming
out soon. In the meantime, you can resolve this by not running the web
server on the same machine as the file share, or by using some other
method to point the notebook at the correct location (such as the
"change location" workaround you've discovered).
