Notes in appointments disappear after saving

Every week we have a staff meeting, which shows up as an
appointment in my calender in Outlook 2000. I make notes
for the meeting in the notes box at the bottom of the
appointment dialogue box.

After saving, I can go back and check it, open the
appointment, and there are my notes. That is,until the
actual day of the appointment. Then, the notes box is
completely blank. This has happened 3 weeks in a row.

What's the fix?
