Notes not showing up in Powerpoint Presenter Mode

I'm preparing a presentation (2017 Mac, V. 16.58 of PPT) where I have notes, but when I go to display Presenter Mode, they don't show up. Presenter mode only shows the current slide and the "film reel" below of the other slides. It showed them a few months ago, but then it suddenly stopped for some reason. Any suggestions?
