notes on desktop

I was told that this program can put post-it-type notes on your desktop for
reminders of whatever you want to put on the notes themselves. I don't know
how to make a note like that described.

I'm afraid you were misled. You can type quick notes in OneNote but it
doesn't display them on the desktop like Post-It's as you are describing.
