notes on 'mouse over'

Is it possible to add a note to a specific word or group of words which pops
up when the cursor hovers over it/them in a similar way to the notes added to
a cell in Excel?

Yes, you insert a Comment. if you want to do this through the user
interface, select the word or phrase to be commented, and then go to Insert,
Comment.

To do the same in VBA, you Add an item to the Comments collection. if you
are unsure of the syntax, record a macro and see what it looks like

Ok, getting somewhere now.
Can I remove the bubbles from the margin and the brackets and shading from
the actual word(s) but still have the comment visible when the mouse hovers
over the word(s)? Also, can I remove the automatically entered text in the
comment bubble ie the editor's name, the date and time and "commented" text?
