Notes & Powerpoint

Eoin O'Beara

Hi all,
Having trouble on a number of Laptops running WinXP Pro
SP1 with Office XP SP2 and Notes 5.0.11, namely that when
Notes is open, Powerpoint crashes in the middle of working
on a presentation and we can't get back the "recovered"
file.

Any ideas (apart from uninstalling and reinstalling or
applying the latest patches, I've done all of that)?

Thanks,

Eoin.

What are the users doing when the file crashes? Are they just typing
text, or are they inserting graphics or something else?

You might try the printer driver thing here:
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00034.htm

You might also try updating the video drivers on the laptops.

Oh, wait. Notes would be Lotus Notes? I was thinking the PPT notespage
view. Oops.

Do the users get an error message when PPT crashes?

Hi there,
Yep, its Lotus Notes. No error, nothing in event log. Powerpoint will
stop responding and they won't be able to open the last "recovered" version
of the file. If Notes is closed they can work away with no problems....

hm. I can't find anything in the KB that might be relevant, but I may
not be looking for the right thing. I suspect this one's going to need a
call to Microsoft Product Support, Eoin. Sorry.

No problem, I've searched the MS KB and the Lotus KB with no answers.
Will post an answer...if I get one!
