I run my own Exchange 2000 Server and have been having problems with Outlook
2002 and 2003 on multiple computers using offline caching, likely due to my
mailbox size (3GB). I disabled offline caching a few weeks ago.
Yesterday, when I opened Outlook 2003 on one computer, it looked like it was
resynchronizing an offline file -- I got the normal popups for almost every
email in my inbox as if it were being received for the first time. It took
quite a while to process everything.
Then, my inbox (950 items) went blank. I have had the same problem on
multiple computers using Outlook 2002 and 2003, as well as OWA. Scared me
good!
I was just able to get one Outlook 2003 equipped computer to show the inbox
items just fine by choosing Options -> Other -> AutoArchive. For some
reason, AutoArchive had been clicked on. I clicked it off and suddenly
everything appeared. However, I cannot duplicate it on other computers -
none show AutoArchive checked for 'on.'
On these other computers, when new items come into my inbox, I see them as I
am looking at the inbox. However, in one instance, they sequentially went
away without my clicking, one after another. Other times, they stayed until
I deleted them manually ... but my inbox then appeared empty.
Any ideas at all? I don't drink or do drugs, but this might start me on both.
Thanks.
