Apologies upfront for my complete and utter lack of correct
terminology.... I shall try my best to communicate my problem and hope
that someone can help me as the following has now occurred 3 times in 5
months!

I am using Office2004 Student and Teacher Edition on a MacBookOSX
10.4.7. Nothing will launch: not Word, not Powerpoint, not Excel, not
Entourage....not from the program and not via a file. When I click on
an icon, there's a quick 'flash', almost as though it is about to
launch, followed by nothing - no error message, nothing... The same
thing happens when I try to launch Remove Office!!!

The last 2 times this happened, I manually removed Office and then
re-installed it. Am I going to have to go through this process every
couple of months??????????

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!......

First, update OS X to 10.4.8 using the Combo updater from the Apple site.

Update Office to 11.3 by d/l from Mactopia site.

Use Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions after each update.

If the problem persists after a restart run Disk Utility - Verify Disk.
Start up using OS X disk & run Repair Disk if necessary.

Post back if you haven't been able to resolve it. But "No" you shouldn't
have to go through this on any regular basis. There must be a local issue
causing the behavior.

I would like to add one more thing to check. Create a new user is System
Preferences. Check to see if the applications will launch in the new user.
If they do not launch, then you will need to do an archive and install of
the OS.
