Notification Sounds disappear after upgrade from 2004 to 2008

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Upgrade from MacOffice 2004 to 2008 seems to have lost the Notification Sounds that were previously there.
Under Entourage Preferences, Notification, All sounds are checked, but not functioning. Clicking the speaker provides no sound.
Where can I look for further info

Make sure that you are at level 12.1.0. When Entourage was first released,
the notification sounds didn't play.
To check for updates, open Entourage and then choose Help in the menu and
choose Check for Updates. This will launch the Microsoft AutoUpdate program
and you want to click on Check for Updates. Keep checking for updates until
you are at version 12.1.7 this is the latest version.
