Notification sounds

O

OP3

I can't get any mail notification sounds at all in Entourage 2008. They're turned on and don't work. (Yes, computer volume is on and up). Any hints?

Thanks

Yeah, you're screwed. :) Microsoft released Office 2008 without properly
testing it on Leopard. So until an update comes out, you, me and many others
have a email client with no notification sounds. Not sure how they missed
this one.

Again, can we please be clear that THIS IS NOT A LEOPARD ISSUE. It happens on Tiger as well.

Sounds were working fine for me until I attempted to turn off just the "No Mail" sound. Now none of the sounds work.

What about after you apply the Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Service
Pack 1 (12.1.0) update?

No notification issue here with 12.1.0. The SP1 update worked perfect
and I have no issues to report.

Only have one question. Where did MS hide the AutoUpdater in 2008. The
reason I want to know is to use my Time Machine backup to see what
version was used before applying the SP1 update. I think (not sure) that
SP1 updated it to version 2.2.0. The only way I can check is to use the
HELP menu item to launch the AutoUpdater. BTW, the previous version
had a button you could click to check for Installed Updates. That button
has been removed on the AutoUpdater 2.2.0

The Office 2008 MAU is now hidden away.

Hi,

I just installed the SP1 update and still no notification sounds. Tried unsetting them all, quitting Entourage, restarting, etc. but no luck.

Thanks

Ok - on a whim I thought I would reboot (that used to solve many of the Windows XP ills) and voilà! Notification sounds are working after the reboot! I'm not touching them for now - maybe someone else can be a guinea pig.

Thanks for your replies.
