When I first started using this discussion group I would click the Notify me
of replies and I would get an email telling me that someone had replied to my
question. This email would have a link that opened right to my question.
After a while the links stopped working correctly so I had to look for my
question when I got the email. A while later I stopped receiving the emails.
According to the Help files I should be receiving both the email and the
functional link. What has happened? How can I restore these conveniences?

The messages on this forum are NOT on the webpage: they're on a "Newsgroup"
named microsoft.public.access.modulesdaovba on the news server
msnews.microsoft.com.

The webpage is just one of many tools that let you see these newsgroups.
Outlook Express and Windows Mail have a "newsreader" function that lets you
see them (and store the messages offline for future reference); many other
newsreaders are available (I use Agent from http://www.forteinc.com); you can
search them on Google Groups (http://groups.google.com).

The webpage has had many problems - notification is flaky and my impression is
that it hasn't worked for months, and this past weekend the website was
neither posting nor receiving messages.

Until Microsoft gets it working - or junks it altogether - I'd suggest using a
newsreader.

Good question, Del. I've asked the same thing here many times over the last
six months, and never once got an answer from MS. There are a number of
quirks with their community news group sites, and they don't seem too
inclined to fix them.

However, there are alternatives.
1. Use one of the other (non-MS web site) news readers
2. Use a news reader line Outlook Express.

The nice thing about OE is that you can change the view to show only the
posts that you have contributed too, and can sort it so they come back in the
order they were submitted (another of my pet peeves WRT the MS web site).

The down side of OE is that it is difficult to search, so for that I
generally use Google or Bing. Unfortunately, these will usually bring back a
number of hits from different news groups (public and private) that contain
the same threads.

If you're using Outlook Express, you can flag a thread by clicking to the
right of the header and underneath the GLASSES icon.
