notify the Outlook user that their e-mail has been sent

At the close of business each day certain statistics are e-mailed to a
manager.
Sometimes he doesn't get these figures until the next morning because the
Outlook user logged off and went home before the message was clear of the
outbox.
Is there a way to notify the Outlook user that their e-mail has been sent
(not delivered or read)?

How exactly is this related to Outlook programming (the scope of this forum)?

By default Outlook provides a warning when closing if there are messages
remaining in the Outbox. If users choose to ignore this, well, then it is
their own fault!

The statistics are generated by a vba routine in an excel spreadsheet, which
also creates and sends the e-mail message.
