Here is the situation. I was sent a meeting request
that I accepted, and it is on my calendar. I need to let
my partner know that I will be at this meeting, for phone
coverage? If I forward the meeting request to them, it
appears as ME on behalf of THEMEETINGORGANIZER and the
organizer will get the response, if my partner accepts.
How can I get this on my partners calendar without
recreating the item?

Forward the meeting item instead of the meeting request.

Try using the Forward as iCal (or vCal) command to send a copy of the
appointment from your calendar.

If you forward the item to them (Select the item and click Forward) they
should be able to open the item, review it, save it to their calendar and
reply to your message indicating their consent.
