Nov. Updates fail on install

I just attempted to install the 2 Nov. Office updates(KB919029 and junk email
filter).
I first d/l'd the installers and tried to install them and that failed. I
then went to Windows Update and tried that route only to end with the same
results.

I'm using XP Home SP2 FULLY updated. I have Office 2003 Pro FULLY updated.

I used Windows Update to identify the need for the updates and navigated to
the update pages and d/l'd them to install. I tried the 919029 first and it
fail and then I tried the email filter and it failed. I then went back to
Windows Update and tried to get them there. They were d/l'd on Win Update but
failed in the install. I first posted this in the Window Update Discussion
and they refered me here. There are others having this same problem posting
there also.

Here is something that worked for me after all else failed - and I do mean ALL.

In my case I was able to analyse the problem to one of the word, excel or
powerpoint reader programs that I had installed from before I installed the
full office. For some reason known only to Microsoft the update program was
trying to install the update to these programs on a non-existant drive.

I removed these programs and tried the install from a separately downloaded
copy of office2003-KB919029-FullFile-ENU.exe and finally the install worked
with no false reminders appearing.

I hope this helps - if it does please let others know so that they can
confirm the solution.

Thanks for a response but that is N/A for me because I never had any viewers
installed. The thing that is aggrevating is, it updated fine with the
previous updates when done from the Office Update site. I have already
uninstalled completely after trying all the other "suggestions" from the
windows update discussions and will reinstall when I get a chance since it is
such a pain in the butt.
