NOW() FUNCTION ISSUE

J

Jim F.

We have several formulas indicating percentage complete and so on in Project
2002.

The NOW() function is supposed to update these formulas which of course gets
its variable date from the system date of the local computer.
It will not update the formulas automatically. If I go into the NOW()
formula (Date field ) I have set up and then hit OK it will update all of the
formulas just fine.

Any thoughts to get this to work correctly.

Is calculation set to automatic.
I prefer to use the project status date.
That way you are certain what the calculation is based on.

I am not sure how to set this calc to automatic. How would I do that? How
do I change to project status date instead of having it calc automatically
from the computer system clock date?

I tried used [Current Date] same issue.
The only way the formulas will update is when select the entire project
<right click> the mouse and choose <calculate the project>. This will then
update my other formulas such as % work completed and % Time elapsed.

Any other thoughts?

Hi Jim!

Have you tried using the [Current Date] field instead of NOW()?

To insert this field into a formula, either select Insert: Field >
Project > Date > Current Date in the Formula dialog box, or simply type
[Current Date] in the appropriate point in your formula.

Good luck!

Thanks Jack for the tip. Yes - it ended up being set for automatic
calculation.

Does your calculated field depend on the result of a calculation in another
calculated field? If so, you might want to try writing the formula so
everything is done in a single field.
