NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM shuts me down

A

Alan Pickersgill

When I am online, I keep getting a messages that the
system is shutting down and I have one minute to save all
my work before it shuts off. The shutdown is initiated by
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM because of something to do with a
Remote Procedure Call (RPC). This never happened before,
but now happens at very unpredictable moments. Why is it
happening, and what can I do to stop it?

It appears that your system has been infected with the MBlast worm - the one
that has received all the publicity recently. The newsgroup
"microsoft.public.security.virus" has information on: 1) Cleanup 2)
Installing the security patch that MS notified its customers about.
