Tony Josephs
I normally backup up my SQL databases with Veritas BackupExec 9.1 which
reports no problems backing up Project Server
On the advice of a colleague I tried NTBACKUP as an alternative and now have
a problem related to the ProjectServer installation.
It reports
Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:800423f4
Reverting to non-shadow copy backup mode.
Backup of "C: System"
Backup set #1 on media #1
Backup description: "SBS Backup created on 27/02/2005 at 12:58"
Media name: "Small Business Server Backup (01).bkf created 27/02/2005 at
12:58"
The event log reports a VSS problem: "SQLLIB error: Database ProjectServer
is not simple." which is the Volume Shadow Copy problem.
Apparently, it is possible to set the recovery model of the database to
simple (http://www.kbalertz.com/kb_828481.aspx). It this the solution?
Will it mess up my Project Server installation?
I would like a simple back up method and currently BE9.1 seems to be working
fine but I can't see why MS would make Ntbackup unable to back up Project
Server.
Does anyone have an answer?
TIA
