nudge text box only

P

Patricia

I have Visio 2003.
If I have text in a shape, and select the text with the text block tool (A
with a circular arrow around it), I can move the text with the mouse, w/o
moving the shape, but still having the text and shape attached. But I can't
move the text block using the arrows or shift+arrow w/o the shape moving with
it.
Is there some way I can nudge the text block w/o moving the shape?

Although you are using the Text Block tool, the native behavior of the
Arrow keys is not changed. You can see the same effect with other tools
selected, including the drawing tools, connector tool, etc. There is no
way to override the arrow key behavior that I'm aware of.

You can perhaps try this turn around :
Insert a guide (you can use the arrows to choose it's placement)
Use the text block tool to snap to the guide

Enjoy with visio.
