You may have an add-in attempting to run when Word starts. Does the error occur when you start Word using the /a switch? This will start Word using the defaults and by-pass add-ins, macros, and your personal preferences. Go to Start/Run and run:

winword /a

Note the space before the forward slash.

If the error doesn't occur then go to Tools/Templates and Add-ins and see if you have any global templates/add-ins in the list.

If so then they should be found in one of your Startup folders. The Office\Startup folder is located in the Office installation path and your Word Startup folder location can be found under Tools/Options/File Locations. (You can also use Windows Search to locate the files)

Once found move them out of the folder to prevent them from loading when Word starts.
